A number of months ago I did a Big Foot Chester session and invited two friends: Gary Lindsey (performs as Black Eyed Vermillion and sang w/ Hank III in Ass Jack) and Scott Biram- the Dirty One Man Band). I wanted to hear Gary sing Scott’s tune”Graveyard Shift” and Scott Was kind enough to join us on guitar. Then we cut a version of Roy Acuff’s “They Can Only Fill One Grave,” with both of them singing. The kind folks at Little Class Records are releasing this as both a digital and a vinyl version, as well!! Here’s the press release:https://m.facebook.com/?_rdr#!/story.php?story_fbid=1398281726863814&id=274820625876602&fs=5
Here’s the cover for the new single on Ghost Highway Recordings- my good friend, Jack Oblivian, was kind enough to play on the Tony Joe White song, “I Get Off on It,” which Jack turned me on to you. The other tunes are “Voodoo Working,” and “Stimulant.” Some really talented players on the record- Bill Anderson and Billy Steve Korpi man the guitars, Cindy Toth on bass and Trey Robles on drums. Alyson Lipkin added some baritone sax and Kim Longacre and Laurie Roarke-Korpi added background vocals, along with Cindy Toth. DIG IT!!
Also, I was interview by Terminal Boredom and you can read it here! Thanks!

Always dig playing with Jack “Oblivian” Yarber- an all-around great musician and songwriter- this version- complete with a fine drum solo for ya’all to enjoy! Groovy Gravy!!
Jeff Smith- main man of the Hickoids is throwing big fundraiser for Davy Jones on May 23rd at the Hole in the Wall- he’s really putting a lot of effort into this with an incredible line-up: the Hickoids, Tex Edwards, the Offenders, Alejandro Escovedo, and Big Foot Chester are thrilled to be a part of it. Davy is really the soul of a great Austin music Scene- I hope you can join us and contribute for Davy’s medical expenses. It will rock like nobody’s business and certain many fine folks will be in attendance.
Really looking forward to playing live on The Clear Spot on Saturday night- January 31st-the show runs from 7-8 and Linda plays a bunch of great stuff. Will be great to play some tunes from Dead Mall Blues on 12XU Records and whatever else we feel like!! Got a some other musical happenings cooking- the artwork for the next Walter Daniels & the Giblets single- which will come out on Ghost Highway Recordings is almost complete. Jack Oblivian joins us on guitar on a Tony Joe White cover. Other recordings are at various stages- but I hope ya’all can tune in on Saturday- streaming at Koop.org and hear me and Schooley throwing down old-timey style!
Got the Suitcase Brothers cd- A Long Way from Home in the mail today. I’ve been wanting to hear it for some time- Victor Puertas is a superb harmonica player- one of the most talented that I’ve ever seen. The Suitcase Brothers are a duo- Victor and Santos- who sings and play guitar. They are joined by a number of players- most notably Jerry Portnoy on harp on three songs and Paul Oscher plays slide on a number. I can’t recommend this record enough- Santos is a fine finger-picker and Victor (who play piano on a few cuts as well). Anyway- if you have a chance to see Victor Puertas- he is an elite harmonica player!!! Ordering info here:http://www.santospuertas.com/index.php/store/item/279-a-long-way-from-home
Vinyl version of the song I recorded with Iggy One Man Band- looks pretty cool and I dig 45’s baby!!!
